WATCH: “Women must not be given equal opportunities as men” – Nigerian lawmaker
A lawmaker representing the Kazaure constituency of Jigawa State, Hon. Gudaji Muhammed Kazaure, made an embarrassing proposal to the speaker of the House of Representatives during Thursday’s plenary.
Kazaure spoke at the National Assembly against women having equal opportunities as men in political matters in the country.

“Our wives control us in the house and we shouldn’t give them too much opportunities in politics if we don’t want them to overthrow us,” Kazaure proposed, drawing intermittent laughter from his colleagues.
The lawmaker is known for his many humourous displays in the chamber.
