WATCH: “We were returned because we are Muslims” – Dapchi schoolgirl
One of the released Dapchi schoolgirls has revealed how they were abducted and why they were freed.
Boko Haram insurgents invaded Dapchi, a community in Yobe on February 19 and abducted not less than 110 girls.
Speaking on the attack in Hausa, one of the released girls said they were about to have breakfast when the incident happened.
She said, “We were in school about to have breakfast when suddenly we heard gunshots and everyone was confused.
“The militants called out saying ‘come to the gate, come to the gate,’ that they were taking us home. One called on the driver, ‘Babangida bring the bus’. We entered the bus and on leaving Dapchi, they asked who among us was fasting, then they gave us foods and drinks as we later crossed on a boat to the other side.”
Disclosing that one of them who was abducted wasn’t freed because she was a Christian, she said “we were freed because we are Muslim girls and they didn’t want us to suffer.”
