WATCH: Soldiers surprise travellers by helping them pull out car from mud
In a country where many citizens are left to tell mostly sad tales about their encounters with men in uniform, some soldiers displayed commendable act of selflessness by assisting some travellers whose car got stuck in the mud today.
Just when the passengers were beginning to tire from trying to get the vehicle out of the mud, some soldiers passing by stopped to help – much to their amazement.
One of the travellers, Evans Stanley, shared the soldiers’ unexpected selflessness.
“I was on a 10 hrs journey and our car drifted off and we were stuck. We tried to pull through but the car only had two tyres on the road, making it nearly impossible,” Evans said.
“All efforts seemed futile until army’s from the 22 quick response wing doma came by, at first I thought they were gonna pass by, but they stopped and every one of them assisted, us until we pulled through.
“They zoomed off immediately not minding how dirty their clothes, hands and shoes became as a result of helping us, they even declined water and soap we offered them.”
The surprised but elated passengers could be seen thanking the soldiers as they drove off.
Security operatives and law enforcement can inspire citizens’ confidence and foster good relationship with selfless acts such as this.
