WATCH: Soldiers going to “pick big man” punish ‘bloody civilians’ for driving too close
Some men luckily escaped being severely punished by operatives of the Nigerian Army for alleged obstruction on Saturday.
The men were accused of “driving too close” to the military operatives’ vehicle on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The soldiers said they were going to pick a “big man” who is their “oga” and the civilians’ refusal to stay clear of their vehicle made them believe they were a threat.
The soldiers claimed the men didn’t even obey their siren.
Presidential candidate Yele Sowore who said he was passing by when he noticed the men being humiliated, stopped to calm the situation.
“I am familiar with this tactic by soldiers, so, I told them it was not their duty to carry out arrests and that if they considered them suspects it was the job of the police to investigate and prosecute them,” Sowore said.
He said the soldiers, after agreeing to let the men go, demanded that the recorded video be deleted.
