VERDICT: “Isiaka Adeleke died of drug overdose” – Coroner says after inquest into cause of politician’s death
The coroner in charge of the inquest into the cause of Senator Isiaka’s Adeleke’s death has ruled in his verdict that the politician died of drug overdose.
Mr Olusegun Ayilara gave the verdict on Tuesday after three weeks of investigations.
He said the political stalwart didn’t die as a result of poison consumption, as no traces of poisonous substance was found in his system.
“The high dose of sedatives and analgesics with the mode of administration caused aspiration which culminated in death,” Ayilara said.
At least fifteen witnesses, including the Chief Medical Director of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, had presented their findings since the inquest began.
Adeleke’s family had said they are not in support of the ongoing inquest, as they suspect it “would be filled with alternate facts.“
