August 20, 2018
The United States has honoured the cleric who saved about 300 people, mostly Christians, from being killed by rampaging suspected herdsmen during the crisis in Jos, Plateau State months ago.
Imam Abdullahi Abubakar had sheltered fleeing residents in his mosque and house, thereby making them out of reach for the suspected herdsmen who killed no fewer than 200 persons.
President Buhari had also promised to award Abubakar with a national honour.
The cleric was recognized and honoured at an event organised by the US embassy in Jos.
