UPDATE: 6 of 9 people killed in Ghana Ramadan stampede are females

At least nine people were killed following a stampede at Ramadan party in Kumasi, Ghana.
The tragedy happened on Wednesday night as revelers celebrated Eid al-Fitr at Asawase Community Center.
Six of the people who died are females, reports say.
Several other people were reported injured with one said to be in critical condition. All the injured have been taken to hospital, Joy FM reports.
The radio station quoted sources who related conflicting details regarding the cause of the deadly stampede.

One witness, according to the radio station, said a power cut caused panic and the stampede occurred as people rushed to leave the venue.
Another said that the lights went out at the end of the party but people were unable to get out because the doors to the community centre were locked.
The tragedy happened on Wednesday night, the same day a container truck rammed into a bus in Lagos, Nigeria – another West African country.
At least three people died in the Lagos tragedy which happened as people were preparing for Eid al-Fitr prayers..
