UNILAG student disappears on project defence day, pops up at RCCG camp

A Nigerian student who went missing hours before defending his final year thesis has been found at a church campground.
Adedoyin Adekanle, on Monday, left his Ikorodu, Lagos, home but never made it to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) – his destination.
Adedoyin, who’s about 23 years old, was expected to defend his final year project at the Department of Geophysics on Tuesday, NewsroomNG gathered.
Adedoyin’s sister, Kehinde – a UNILAG graduate now serving with the National Youth Service Corps – raised the alarm on social media after her brother went missing.
Her message was shared on social media platforms especially Facebook, Twitter, BBM and WhatsApp which are widely used by Nigerians.
Adedoyin was, Tuesday night, found at Redeemed Christian Church of God Church’s (RCCG) campground along Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The RCCG is currently holding its annual Holy Congress. We gathered Adedoyin’s father is an RCCG pastor.
The circumstances surrounding Adedoyin’s disappearance remain unknown to us. Adedoyin reportedy said he didn’t know how he found his way to the camp.
“I know my brother is not himself as we speak,” Kehinde told NewsroomNG on Wednesday.
“I really don’t want to talk about the situation because it is very troubling. We just want to maintain our privacy.”
“I have not even seen him as we speak,” she said.
Kehinde, however, confirmed to us Adedoyin has been found and is safe.
The status of Adedoyin’s project defence remain unclear. But a UNILAG source told us it should be possible..
