Unidentified truck driver flee after crushing pregnant woman to death
An unidentified truck driver and his assistant are currently on the run after their vehicle crushed a pregnant woman to death along the Jabi/Airport Road, Abuja.
It was gathered that an unidentified bystander was also killed in the accident which occurred on Thursday evening.
According to reports, the deceased persons were attempting to board a taxi on the side of the road when the truck that was said to be conveying granite lost control and rammed into them and dragged them into the gutter.
The pregnant woman and the unidentified man were reportedly crushed to death on the spot, while the taxi driver was injured.
The driver of the truck and his motor boy (assistant) were said to have immediately fled the scene.
Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps and emergency officials were said to have conveyed the corpses to the mortuary.
An FRSC official said it was likely that the truck experienced a brake failure.
