Undergraduates to win ₦4.5m in 6th Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition for Innovative Solution
The Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition is prepared to wrap up its sixth edition in grand style. The Grand Finale, themed, ‘Innovating beyond Imagination’, is set to hold on at the University of Lagos Main Auditorium on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, at 9 am.
PAADC was established as an initiative of the University of Lagos Engineering Society (ULES) to promote undergraduates’ use of science and technology to develop indigenous solutions to Nigerian problems. Looking back at previous editions, this edition of the event will include a job fair, panel session with industry experts, exciting contests, and a raffle draw where attendees stand a chance to win amazing prizes.
The main activity of the day is the pitching and product demo segment, where the five finalist teams consisting of talented undergraduates will pitch their innovative solutions to a panel of expert judges for a chance to win a share of the 4.5 Million Naira grand prize.
The finalists emerged from the following sectors: agriculture, health, education, essential services and environmental sustainability. The five teams that made it to the finale are Team Foosion (Covenant University), Team EnactCare (Tai Solarin University of Education), Team Interna (Nile University), Team Protonics (University of Port-Harcourt), and Team Helgg (Covenant University).
Interestingly, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Adia Sowho will be delivering the keynote speech at the event. The Grand Finale is also backed by prestigious organisations in the industry such as MTN, Microsoft, Africa Fintech Foundry (AFF), Endeavor Nigeria, Kawaii Technologies and Paga. This is one event to look forward to as it is packed with a lot of highlights and attractions.
This edition of PAADC is definitely one for the books as the team in charge took the competition a notch higher. Not only did they record the highest number of applications received by the competition since inception, but they also went on to break new grounds like commencing PAADC Nexus (a monthly seminar for its community), launching a newsletter, revamping their website, and going on Campus Tours to three different universities. The PAADC 6.0 team is also set to launch the first-ever PAADC Innovation Report.
According to the Head of Operations for PAADC 6.0, Ifunanya Ezeokoye said, “I have no doubt that The Sixth edition of the PAADC Grand Finale will be the grandest ever. I am looking forward to mind-blowing innovations from the finalists, listening to industry experts and most especially the job fair!! I mean who wouldn’t? I am so proud of myself and my team for having put this together and I expect to see you all on October 22, 2022!”
