Two security guards arrested over N5m theft in Borno hospital

Two private security guards from the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital have been arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Borno State over the alleged theft of N5m.

Reports say the suspects were caught following a tip-off on Saturday, but had been on the wanted list of SARS since May.

The suspects allegedly stole the money after breaking into the cashier’s office through the ceiling.

They had reportedly returned to Maiduguri after they squandered all the money, having bought a car worth N2.6m. They relocated to Kano where they spent the remaining money and sold the car when they became broke.

Labara Bello, the Chief Medical Director, said the suspects were security guards working with a private company.
