Troops Eliminate Multiple Bandits, Notorious Terrorist Leader in Zamfara
Troops from the north-west operation Fansan Yamma have reportedly killed several terrorists, including the notorious kingpin Ma’oli. The operation, which took place on December 26 in the village of Maisheka, near Kunchin Kalgo in Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA), Zamfara state, marks a victory in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the region.
Abdullahi Abdullahi, media coordinator for the operation, confirmed that Ma’oli was a key figure behind the imposition of illegal levies on local communities, contributing to a reign of terror that had plagued the area. “Ma’oli was notorious for extorting residents of Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, and other neighboring areas in Tsafe LGA,” Abdullahi stated.

The military operation was launched in response to intelligence reports indicating that terrorists on motorcycles were active in the area, planning to launch further attacks on local communities. The swift and effective response by Fansan Yamma troops not only thwarted these plans but also ensured the death of Ma’oli, a relief to residents who had long lived in fear under his criminal control.
For many locals, the death of Ma’oli has been a cause for celebration. “This victory has brought hope and excitement to the community, as it marks the end of a long era of terror,” Abdullahi added.
The successful operation highlights the resolve of the Fansan Yamma forces in their commitment to eradicating terrorist groups in the region. The Joint Task Force behind the operation reaffirmed their determination to continue pursuing and neutralizing remaining terrorists and their collaborators across the operational area.
“The Joint Task Force will remain focused on its mandate and will continue working closely with local communities to ensure lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and beyond,” Abdullahi concluded.
