Trigger-happy policeman shoots man, nearly set ablaze in Lagos
A policeman was on Sunday (today) brutalised and almost set ablaze by an angry mob for allegedly shooting a man in the head in the Mile 12 area of Lagos.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer (inset) shot the yet-to-be-identified man following an altercation.
The witness said the police officer’s car broke down in the middle of the road and he was challenged by a commercial bus occupant.
The officer was said to have shot the man, while he allegedly attempted to shoot another person.
The witness said: “The police man is the CPO of Sagamu police station. He was driving then his car developed a fault. He parked it on the road.
“The victim had argument with him the police man. Then out of provocation he shot the guy on his head. He tried to escape but was apprehended. Then he tried to shoot another person but the other guy was fortunate to have a scratch.”
He was mobbed and nearly set ablaze.
Some police operatives arrived to take charge of the situation, while the victim who was reportedly in coma, was taken to the hospital.
