Tragic! 9 confirmed dead, 4 injured in tanker explosion on Otedola Bridge
A total of nine persons have died in the fire incident that occurred as a result of tanker explosion on Otedola bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway Thursday evening, LASEMA confirms.
A Mack tanker loaded with 33,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) moving inward Berger at about 5:23pm, fell and spilled its content on the road resulting into fire outbreak.
The bodies of nine persons were recovered from the scene (8 adults and 1 minor) by emergency operatives.
Emergency agencies further confirmed that a total number of 54 vehicles were completely burnt as a result of the inferno, while four persons sustained various degrees of injuries and have been taken to the hospital.
LASEMA and other emergency agencies are currently working to get all burnt vehicles off the road.
