UPDATE: Police confirm PHCN official died on electricity pole, one other person seriously injured

An official of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IE) has been electrocuted while working on an electricity pole.

Eyewitnesses raised the alarm after noticing the man was not moving.

Another electricity worker was seriously injured in the accident, Lagos police spokesperson Kenneth Nwosu told Newsroom on Thursday.

Police officers were seen removing the man from the pole and taking him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Wednesday tragedy happened opposite the Police College in Ikeja area of Lagos.

Lagos police spokesperson confirmed the accident to Newsroom, Thursday morning.

“One person was confirmed dead,” he said.

“Another person was seriously injured, he said.
