Tottenham welcomes Leicester City as West Ham battles Arsenal

It’s a super weekend for football lovers as the English Premier League enters round 35. With the EPL 2021/2022 season ending on May 22, the title race which has become a two-horse race is still on, and the battle to make the top four is in fierce contention.

The weekend action will kick off on SuperSport Premier League and SuperSport Maximo 1 on Saturday, April 30, as resurgent Newcastle United welcomes League contenders Liverpool in an early kickoff. But it won’t be an easy feat with the Jurgen Klopp side. Newcastle United is upping their game after beating Norwich City 3 goals to nil last Saturday. The match is expected to be a thriller, with Liverpool needing the maximum three points to top the League.

After a humiliating defeat last week, relegated-zone Norwich City will have to strive for their EPL retention when they play Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon at 3 PM on SuperSport Premier League and SuperSport Maximo 1. At the same time, Antonio Conte is hoping to leap into the top four with a win over Leicester City after a goalless draw last week forced him down to the fifth position. With a goalless draw last weekend, Kelechi Iheanacho has been hinted to start as he leads other Nigerians, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman, when they travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur.

Saturday’s EPL matches will end with Leeds United welcoming EPL title race leaders Manchester City at 5:30 PM WAT also on SuperSport Premier League and SuperSport Maximo 1. Pep Guardiola is hoping to win the EPL title for the fourth time after joining the club in 2016, and with Kevin De Bruyne, Mahrez and Foden hitting form at the right time, the Spanish coach might have his way at Elland Road.

Actions resume again on Sunday, May 1, with Everton facing 3rd placed Chelsea. Frank Lampard will face his former club after dropping into the relegation zone when he lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Sunday, April 24. But Chelsea needs a win to solidify their position to seal a spot for the UCL Champion League next season. Still on Sunday, West Ham United will battle Arsenal in what is expected to be a suspense-filled derby. Mike Arteta’s side has been unwavering in their determination to make the top four, beating Manchester United 3-1 last week. However, with Declan Rice’s exceptional performance in the mid-field of West Ham, the gunners will have to up their game to take home the maximum three points.

On Monday, May 2, struggling sixth-placed Manchester United will welcome Brentford at Old Trafford as Christain Eriksen continues his wonderful form since returning to top-flight football. DStv subscribers can catch the match at 8 PM
