According to media reports about 1000 Nigerians has been recklessly killed in Nigeria in 10 years. Police brutality in Nigeria is an unfortunate an intolerable aspect of police power.
Below are some of the major cases of police brutality in Nigeria:
Commercial bus driver chained to the back of a police van:
One of the major cases of police brutality in Nigeria in 2017 is the case of Citizen Kester Edun in Benin City, Edo State, the scene came across like a scene from a horror movie.
An on-line video showed a 38-year old commercial bus driver chained on the left hand to the back of a police patrol van and dragged along the street in May 2017
Police authorities initially denied the barefaced brutality by its men, but the evidence was too compelling.
Police brutalising an Accounting graduate recuperating at a private hospital:

Sometime ago, men of the force attached to Mosafejo/Amukoko police station brutalised a
Lagos based accounting graduate, Mr. Usman Toryib Owonifari who was still
recuperating at a private hospital in Orile-Iganmu/Mile 2 area of the
state.

The victim recounted how he was with his fiancée, Miss Kausarat Yusuf at her residence on Alafia Street located in Amukoko, Mosafejo area when some policemen forcefully abducted the two of them to their station at Amukoko Divisional Police headquarters at
Olatunji Street located a few metres away from Cemetery Road, Amukoko
Lagos.

Police shoots apprentice barber and his childhood friend:

Apprentice barber Monday Idowu and his childhood friend Daniel Aya were shot with the same bullet one morning in April 2017

Police and armed thugs, allegedly loyal to the royal Elegushi family, laid siege to Otodo Gbame, the slum they called home, residents had no choice but to run after the shooting of the two friends

Monday was shot in the chest;the bullet skirted his lungs, exited his chest and smacked into the neck of his friend Daniel Aya, who slumped to the ground dead.

Another major controversies surrounding police brutality in 2017 is a case where men of the Nigeria Police opened fire on people scrambling for money scattered in the streets of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, by armed robbers
 The incident happened after the robbers had attacked occupants of a vehicle who had withdrawn a huge sum of money from a bank and were heading to government House Uyo. They were ambushed by the robbers who collected the money and decided to spray some for the locals.
The shooting of the victim caused serious pandemonium in the area as the youths reportedly went on rampage.

Police shoots three farmers in Ondo state over N50 bribe:

A Police Inspector in Ondo state recently shot three farmers on commercial motorcycle, popularly called Okada over N50 bribe (Egunje).

Already the police inspector who reportedly led other policemen to mount an illegal road block along Amusigbo, along the Ajowa/ ldoani road in Ose council area of the state is in detention.
