Tinubu Names Ogunjimi Acting Accountant General of the Federation
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF).
This follows the pre-retirement leave of Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, the incumbent AGF, and ensures a seamless transition in the management of Nigeria’s treasury.
Mr. Ogunjimi, a career civil servant with over 30 years of financial management experience, is the most senior director at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF). His previous roles include serving as Director of Funds at the OAGF and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A distinguished professional, Ogunjimi holds certifications as a chartered accountant, fraud examiner, stockbroker, and investment specialist. He also possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and a Master’s in Finance and Accounting.
In his statement, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s expertise, describing him as vital to advancing Nigeria’s economic reforms.
“The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation is pivotal to our nation’s treasury management operations. Mr. Ogunjimi’s wealth of experience and notable competence will ensure the continued effectiveness of this vital institution as we advance our economic reform agenda,” Tinubu said.
The president also commended Dr. Madein for her dedication and service to the nation. She will officially retire on March 7, 2025, upon reaching the statutory retirement age.
