“How Nigerian celebs let 2face down during anti-government protest” – Basketmouth
Nigerian comedian Basketmouth said singer 2face Idibia’s February 6 protest march would have succeeded if other celebs spoke up.
2face pulled out of the march after police apparently intimidated him.
Speaking at the ongoing NECLive5, Basketmouth said it would have been easier for 2face to hold his ground had other celebs spoken up.
“It really pained me that we didn’t,” the A-list comedian said.
The march went ahead but failed to make any serious impact because 2face, whom many Nigerians seemed ready to follow, was missing.
2face wanted to use the protest to talk about issues facing Nigerians.

Drama as Toyin Abraham fights Adesua Etomi
A verbal confrontation occurred between Nollywood acts Toyin Abraham and Adesua Etomi at the ongoing NECLive5.
While Abraham believes actresses and actors should belong in relevant associations like Actors Guild of Nigeria, Adesua says that is not needed, especially for upcoming acts.
Both stars disagreed with each other so much they engaged in a shouting match before NECLive convener Ayeni Adekunle settles the “fight” right there on the stage.

12:45pm – Woli Arole in the hall. He had to show. It’s NEC for goodness sake!
Meanwhile, panel discussions are ongoing.
12:10pm – KWAM1 is here!
“I’m satisfied with NECLive. It’s a good initiative,” he told Newsroom. “And I love the way Nigerian entertainment is growing in relevance across the world”. The legend will be part of a panel discussion later on.
11:50am – Toyin Abraham is talking about how Nollywood is giving Hollywood a run for its money. “I don’t usually give speeches,” she says. “I’m nervous.” She’s doing fine tho.
“It’s only a matter of time before we take over the movie space from the Americans,” she concludes her speech.
“I thought NECLive5 wouldn’t hold”
Ayeni Adekunle, chairman of Nigerian Entertainment Conference, revealed today that he thought the annual convention wouldn’t hold this year.
‘As at January I thought the conference wouldn’t happen,’ he said. ‘We didn’t have the sponsorship, we didn’t have the funds.’
Ayeni explained further that he was sure it would be near impossible to put resources together, to do a conference ‘free for all participants’ in an economy where everybody is cutting back.
But according to him, the conference is happening today, April 24 because of the hard work put in by committee members behind the scenes, and his team that include TheNETng, BHM and ID Africa.
He also noted that the conference is holding due to the consistency of the sponsors and exhibitors partnering with the organizers.

Moments before the event commenced: NECLive convener Ayeni Adekunle (man in white) chats with a member of crew…based on logistics.
Adekunle said in his opening speech NECLive had to remain free to attend so students and other categories of people could benefit. He thanked First Bank, Multichoice and MTN for making this year’s event a reality.
