Terrorists kidnap students from Niger school
Terrorists have reportedly kidnapped students from St. Mary’s School, a Catholic institution located in Papiri community, Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State. The attack is believed to have occurred around 2 a.m. today.
Confirming the incident, Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, said the exact number of students taken remains unclear. “The precise number of abducted pupils is yet to be determined as security agencies continue to assess the situation,” he stated.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Ellema, also confirmed the abduction and assured that security forces are actively responding. “Police tactical units, military personnel, and other security agencies have been deployed to the area and are combing the forests in a bid to rescue the kidnapped students,” he said.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm while operations to secure the release of the students continue.
