“Keep Tapping,”-Tapswap Tells Users, But Fails to Reveal Token’s Launch Date
The popular tap-to-earn app Tapswap, on Wednesday, June 19, refused to confirm the launch date for its much-anticipated cryptocurrency token or announce a new date for the launch.
Speaking during an X space where over 800,000 users tuned in, Tapswap’s Head of Communications, John Robbin, said that the team of 25 people is working diligently to ensure that the token is launched properly, declining to review any launch date when pressed by the host.
Replying to the question of whether the token was to be launched on July 1 as earlier communicated, Robbin replied,
“We don’t have any specific date per se, but that will be communicated soon.”
Robbin explained that the reason why no date has been set for the launch was because the metrics for the Tokenomics are still being revealed.
“We are communicating actively with tier-one exchanges. We want to make sure we get all our ducks in a row before we actually go live with the drop. We appreciate everybody’s patience and contributions so far.”
Promising users that they are here for the long haul, he added, “We are not going anywhere. So, keep tapping. Don’t rush. Just keep tapping.”
Perhaps unsatisfied, a co-host with the name Viktor queried Robbin further on the exact date of the launch, asking if people still have more time to tap and earn before the token is launched.
Responding, Robbin said, “We are waiting on some key things to happen. We are not going to rush the launch or release any information that might end up not being true or that might not work for us.”
Adding that the team is “working as quickly and efficiently as possible,” he said that there’s still time for people to join.
Tapswap Growing Popularity and User Engagement
Since its launch on February 15, 2024, Tapswap has captured the attention of millions of users, particularly in Nigeria, where tapping on the app’s central icon to mine coins has become a daily ritual for many. The app’s simplistic yet engaging mechanism has led to a significant user base, with over 50 million users actively participating in the tap-to-earn ecosystem.
Viral videos have shown Nigerians, both young and old, constantly tapping their screens as they hope to earn coins that will become available when the token is launched. The ease of tapping and the mouth-watering reward of getting a token have made Tapswap a frenzy among Nigerians, many of whom are seeking various means to earn an income amidst soaring high costs of living.
Seeking the Best Reward System for Tapswap
However, despite the app’s immense popularity, the method of token allocation remains undecided. Robbin emphasized that the Tapswap team is diligently working to ensure the most equitable and rewarding system for its users.
“We will allocate a significant part of the tokens to the community to retain the tappers. We want you all to be part of the Tapswap community.”
Explaining the mining process, Robbin said:
“The mining process is pretty simple. Just open up the app and tap away. And that will give you shares. The more you tap, the more upgrades you do, and the more shares you get. And when we do finalise the full Tokenomics and we release, there will be some kind of ratio building for how many shares you get equals how many tokens you’ll get.
“The more tokens you want to have when we launch, the more tapping you have to do.”
While Nigeria is the second country with the highest adoption of cryptocurrency, according to Chainalysis, there has been a crackdown on cryptocurrency exchangers by the Nigerian government. On March 5, 2024, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange left the Nigerian market following its feud with the Nigerian government.
