Suspected ritualists kill 70-year-old woman in Ondo, remove her body parts
Police in Ondo have arrested one Moses Olaniyi in connection with the murder of a 70-year old woman in her home at Okeegbe area of Ikare Akoko in Akoko North-East LGA on Wednesday.
Punch reports that the victim, Medinat Ala, had her body parts such as the breast, womb, and privates, removed by her killer.
A neighbour who lived with the late Medinat was also reported to have been hit with a pestle by the assailants as she tried to go into the room during the attack.
“She woke up when she heard strange voices in the deceased’s room; and as she was trying to go into the room, one of the ritualists hit her with a pestle on the head. She has been rushed to the hospital,” a source is quoted as saying.
Ondo police spokesman, Femi Joseph said the killers murdered the woman in her room without any notice and escaped after the act.
“We have arrested one person and we have begun our investigation. We shall get to the root of the matter,” he said, adding that the body has been deposited in a morgue at Specialists Hospital, Ikare Akoko.
