Suspected kidnap syndicate arrested in Benue
Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Benue State for allegedly masterminding the kidnap of a female Civil Defence Officer.
Police arrested one pf the suspects, 36-year-old Magudu Harris, in Makurdi. The graduate of Industrial Physics from University of Agriculture Makurdi (UAM) is alleged to be leader of a 4-man gang.
Police say he confessed that he masterminded and executed the kidnap of the officer, Mrs. Veronica Jirgba, on her way from Shelter of Glory Church. A ransom of N1m was collected before she was released.
Further investigation led to the arrest of another member of the gang, one Anyam Terhemen, 34. Terhemen, a 2011 graduate of Psychology from Benue State University (BSU), is the owner and driver of the gang’s operational Golf car.
A third suspect who was also arrested was identified as 27-year-old Paul Keghuur.
Police are on the trail of a fleeing member of the gang, identified as Loho Caleb.
