Suspected herdsmen kill 32 in fresh attacks in Plateau

About 19 persons have been feared killed in a fresh attack on residents of Ariri village by suspected herdsmen in Plateau State.

The attack was reportedly carried out late Wednesday night in the Bassa Local Government Area of the state.

According to Channels, the victims were shot dead in their sleep by the assailants. Reports say security operatives were yet to arrive the community and the bodies of the victims had not been evacuated as at Thursday morning.

There had also been reports on Wednesday that a similar attack was carried out in Jol village of Riyom Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday night. About 13 persons were said to have been killed in that particular incident.

The Management Committee Chairman of Riyom Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Danboyi Jugu, had said in a statement that the victims were given a mass burial.

“Herdsmen attack Jol village of Riyom Local Government Area last night and killed 13 persons and several others sustained gunshots injuries.

“The 10 corpse including women and children have been given mass burial while three other bodies have just been discovered in the bush,” Danboyi had said.

Wednesday night’s attack brings the total number of victims to 32 in a space of two days.
