Suspected gunmen kill Army Garrison Commander in Bauchi

News of Col. Baracks’ death has caused panic in Bauchi, and military authorities in the state are trying to make sense of the killing.

The Garrison Commander of the 33 Artillery Brigade of Nigerian Army in Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi, Col. Mohammed Barack has been reportedly killed by suspected gunmen.

The Commander was shot along Bauchi – Jos road on Sunday while he was returning from Kaduna on his powerbike.. The gunmen who are suspected to be armed robbers are also speculated to be assassins.

News of Col. Baracks’ death has caused panic in Bauchi, and military authorities in the state are trying to make sense of the killing which unofficial sources claim must have been perpetrated by armed robbers.

The spokesperson of 33 Artillery Brigade, Major Yahaya Nasir Kabara confirmed the incident and added that the Commander’s corpse is being moved to his home state, Kano, where he will be given a befitting burial according to Islamic rites.

He however did not go into details of the attack, but instead he said that investigation is ongoing to ascertain what led to the incident.
