Survivor accuses Buhari of lying about Boko Haram after terrorists attack Borno on Sallah Day
A Borno resident has reportedly called out President Muhammadu Buhari’s “lies” on the purported victory the Nigeria’s military claim to now have over Boko Haram terrorists.
The allegations of government deceit come after Boko Haram terrorists attacked two local governments in Borno as Muslims celebrated Eid Mubarak, Thursday.
Boko Haram terrorists have killed at least 1000 people since Buhari became president in May.
Nigeria’s military say the terrorists who “are on the brink of defeat” now attack “soft targets” – religious, football viewing centers, and all – out of desperation.
The terrorists reportedly attacked Monguno and Baga in the northern part of Borno state, Thursday.
The attacks come five days after the terrorists killed at least 100 people in Borno on Sunday.
The number of people killed in Thursday’s attack was unknown as at press time.
According to a report by Daily Post, residents of the two local governments taking refuge at Bakasi IDP camp, as well as several people who returned home for Sallah were forced to return back to Maiduguri to escape the terrorist onslaught.
They were, however, unable to gain entrance into the Borno State capital as a result of restriction of vehicular movement for the Sallah in Maiduguri.
One of the escapees, one Mammadu Ibrahim, allegedly shared his experience…and his fears that Buhari could be deceiving Nigerians about Boko Haram.
We had to trek down from Shagari to Bakasi last night because the soldiers could not allow us to come in with vehicle following the restriction for Sallah.
I do not think this Boko Haram is over as government wants us to believe.
We learnt that Baga was attacked at about 12 midnight and by 2am, we were attacked at Monguno. I do not know the number of casualties but certainly, many people were killed by the insurgents.
Fact: Buhari never claimed to have ended Boko Haram’s terror. The likes of Ibrahim were allowed to return home because the authorities felt the recaptured territories were safe enough…not that Boko Haram was fully defeated.
