“Stormy weather reason for aircraft overshooting runway, no cause for panic” – Dana Air
Dana Air has stated that the reason its aircraft overshot the runway in Port Harcourt late Tuesday evening was as a result of bad weather.
The airline said there was severe wind upon landing, which made it difficult for the aircraft to land with ease.
About 48 passengers were on board at the time of the incident. All were safely evacuated.
“We commend our pilots who were able to navigate the aircraft to a complete stop under the circumstance and brought all the precious lives of our passengers and crew to safety,” the statement said.
The airline, however, continues to be enmeshed in controversies as only few weeks ago, an exit door detached from one of its aircraft upon landing in Abuja.
Nigerians have also not forgotten the ill-fated crash of one of the airline’s aircraft in 2012, which led to the death of 123 persons in Port Harcourt.
