How You Can Practise Social Distancing As You Enjoy The Football Season With Friends

The new football season in England is officially back and we know how eager you’ve been to rock your new season jersey, walk majestically into a viewing center to exchange bants with other fans and cheer up your favourite team. It’s still the early days of the new season and every fan still has the bragging rights to the Premier League trophy. That’s how fans do, nobody wants to ‘carry last’.

But in the famous words of Oreofeoluwa, the young boy in a recent viral video, you still need to be calming down. It’s not yet time to throw caution into the air as you visit viewing centers or enjoy the football season with your friends. Need we remind you that the battle against COVID-19 is not totally over yet? There are still ongoing infection risks and concerns regarding the pandemic.

Though we are now in the phase 2 of the fight, this is the time to apply more caution. Social distancing and wearing of masks are still very important as we go forward to totally defeat the virus just as Bayern Munich crushed Barcelona in the Semi-final of the UEFA Champions League last season. Apologies to Barca fans, we know you ‘8-2’ hear it, but it is what it is!

As a football fan, you need to understand that social interaction and large gatherings increase your risk of contracting the virus and potentially spreading it to family members and the larger community.

So how do you stay safe and also enjoy the best moments of football with friends side-by-side?

It’s not that hard. If you observe that you have some health conditions or flu, you would be doing your family and the society a lot of good by staying away from public gatherings.

For a safer society for all of us, ensure appropriate social distancing, limit or eliminate contact, wear masks and appropriately sanitise.
