Sir Victor Olaiya Dies At 89
Sir Victor Olaiya has died at age 89. The legendary Highlife musician died on Wednesday afternoon following a brief illness.
News of his death was revealed to the media by the Managing Director of Evergreen Music Company Ltd, Bimbo Esho.
Olaiya’s death has come less than three years after his daughter, actor Moji Olaiya’s death. Moji died in May 2017 at 42.
Dr Olaiya, a gifted trumpeter, released almost 30 music projects in his career that spanned over 70 years.
One of his hit songs, Baby Jowo, has been sampled by many Nigerian singers while a remix with 2baba was released in 2013.
