Sir Shina Peters’ son graduating as best UNILAG student is the ONLY reason Nigerians can smile today

The past few weeks have come with highly regrettable happenings in Nigeria. From an unforgivable “accidental” discharge of bombs on IDPs, to the unrepentant killings in Kaduna, we have indeed witnessed one of the most challenging months as Nigerians in a long time.

We have, quite sadly, become accustomed to such occurrences. Haven’t we?

While it reeks of absolute irresponsibility and sheer callousness on the part of the Federal government that it is yet to arrest or probe any office holder in connection to the death of over 100 innocent Nigerians, the killing of harmless Christians in Southern Kaduna have also been enmeshed in dirty politics by a hugely disappointing Mallam Nasir El-Rufai administration.

Much so, that “men of God” who are in a position to promote peaceful co-existence among Nigerians are now being “forced” to call for what could translate to anarchy.

And the DSS has suddenly developed the guts to go after these “men of God” in the dead of the night.

Dammit! We have even had to helplessly squabble over the “dead or alive” status of our dear president as he enjoys uninterrupted power supply in the UK, while we shamelessly hail Obatala anytime we see flashes of light in our bathrooms.

Need we say more?

It is not all doom and gloom in Nigeria however, as the son of one of our music icons, Sir Shina Peters emerged best graduating student at the recently held University of Lagos convocation.

Oluwagbemileke Peters was on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 unveiled as the best graduating student in the department of architectural design, faculty of environmental sciences at UNILAG.

Oluwagbemileke, who was said to have led his department’s students association, graduated with a cumulative gradient point average of 4.26.

During my most recent encounter with Sir Shina Peters, he proudly defended his widely known notoriety for “running” after beautiful women.

Sir Shina even had tongue-in-cheek compliments for my beautiful female colleagues all through his highly interesting interview. *winks.

For all of the criticisms of philander frequently directed at the Afro-Juju maestro, he has duly made up for it by being a supportive father who inspires his wards to achieve greatness.

The new graduate said he wishes to go to the senate by 2027, and I very well hope, by then, our system is cleanly rid of old politicians who have no business in determining the future of youths in the country.

If you are for the headline, “Sir Shina Peters’ 40-year-old son becomes President of Nigeria” in the future, let me hear you scream “Ijo Shina”!
