After his wife and mother of seven was slaughtered like a ram in Nigeria’s capital, Olawale Elisha said those who took her life were motivated by religious hatred.

Elisha, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), said Eunice was murdered for her faith.

“I see her as a martyr and she died for Christ,” Elisha told the media after police informed him of the tragic incident.

But he said his Christian faith means he wouldn’t be interested in getting back at his wife’s murderers.

“And whether the people are caught or not, they should forgive them,” he said.

“My prayer is that if they can accept Christ, that will be a gain to Christ.”

Albeit, that is not for Pastor Elisha to decide as the case is now Nigeria versus the woman preacher’s killers.

Mrs. Eunice Elisha, was on Saturday morning murdered by suspected Islamic extremists while she preached around Gbazango-West area of Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja.

Eunice, whose birthday was just a couple of weeks away, was stabbed in the stomach and she also had a cut in her neck.

The 42-year-old woman was a deaconess at the Divine Touch Parish of the RCCG, Old NEPA Road, Phase 4, Kubwa where her husband serves as pastor.

The RCCG preacher was found dead in a pool of her own blood with a copy of the Bible, a megaphone and a mobile phone.

She was found dead by residents who alerted policemen who came to evacuate her remains to the police station where her husband went to identify the body.

Mr Elisha: "There was a particular day she went out and she told me that there was a mosque at the back where they commented about what she said. So I just cautioned her."

Abuja police spokesperson Manzah Anjuguri said six suspects have been arrested in connection to the killing.

“Contrary to report from some sections of the media that the deceased’s head and leg was chopped-off, the Command wants to state that apart from marks of injury inflicted on some parts of her body, all parts of the deceased body are intact,” a police statement said, Sunday.

“The Police has taken custody of her remains for preservation and examination,” the statement said..
