Senate Confirms Chris Najomo as NCAA Director-General
In a significant move for Nigeria’s aviation sector, the Senate has officially confirmed Chris Najomo as the substantive Director-General (DG) of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The confirmation, which took place during Thursday’s plenary session, followed the adoption of a report presented by the Senate Committee on Aviation. The report, led by committee chairman Buhari Abdulfatai, highlighted Najomo’s extensive experience and contributions to the industry.
“This is due to his vast experience and outstanding contributions in the aviation industry,” Abdulfatai stated while urging the Senate to approve the nomination.
Najomo’s journey to the top position began on December 13, 2023, when President Bola Tinubu suspended Musa Nuhu as NCAA’s DG. In the wake of Nuhu’s suspension, Najomo was appointed as the acting DG, a role he has now officially assumed permanently.
During the deliberations, Senator Mohammed Monguno, though not a member of the aviation committee, expressed confidence in Najomo’s capabilities, citing his impressive credentials and the absence of any security concerns.
