Seminarian killed, others injured as “herdsmen” open fire on Enugu community

Four other persons were reportedly injured in the attack.

A Catholic seminarian was killed Thursday morning when suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Akagwe Ugwu community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

“The armed herdsmen reportedly invaded the community and started shooting everyone in sight,” one Eneh Victor Chigozie who shared photographs of the victims on Facebook said.

The Seminarian had reportedly just returned from apostolic work at the time of the incident.

Four others reportedly sustained injuries in the incident.

“They have been taken to the hospital. The community is in disarray now.”

“However report reaching us indicates that the youths of Akagwe Ugwu have quickly mobilised and are in hot chase of the herdsmen. They must be caught definitely,” Chigozie wrote.
