Score of ebola patients break out of treatment centre in DR Congo

Since the dreaded Ebola virus made a comeback in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in August 2018, it has recorded many deaths and a lot of people have been infected with the disease.

Consequently, the ministry of health in the country had quarantined victims in treatment centres where it is reported that about 24 patient broke out of the facility in Beni on Thursday.

The patients fled the centre for safety when angry protesters stormed the area in which it is situated while protesting the cancellation of the country’s presidential election.

The incident has raised concerns among health professionals who say that this could lead to a viral spread of the disease in the eastern part of the country. It was disclosed that although 17 people among the patients tested negative to ebola, the other seven were yet to be confirmed.
