Recruitment into NIS, NSCDC, Others Suspended as Applicants Face Access Issues

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has temporarily suspended its recruitment portal due to widespread technical issues experienced by applicants.

The portal, which opened on July 14 for recruitment into four paramilitary agencies — the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Fire Service (NFS), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) — was taken down just two days later.

In a statement released on Wednesday, AM Jubril, Secretary to the Board, said the decision was part of efforts to improve the system’s efficiency and user experience.

“This development will ensure that the portal accommodates the high volume of applications while guaranteeing a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process,” the statement read.

The board said the portal will be reactivated on Monday, July 21, and assured applicants of its commitment to fairness.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies and are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process,” Jubril added.

This marks the third public notice from the CDCFIB since the portal’s launch. Earlier, the board acknowledged technical issues after applicants raised concerns over login failures and form completion problems.

It previously announced that “a few new updates is set to be added for your easy navigation, optimal performance and complete field entries”.

On social media, some applicants expressed frustration. One user wrote: “After inputting my NIN and phone numbers, this Error 405 keeps occurring and keeps taking me back to the home page, and I have to start over since 3:30 am… what could be the problem?”
