PVC Struggle: Nigerians share “stressful” experience

Today, Friday, August 31, 2018 signifies the end of the Continuous Voter Registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Commission had extended the registration date to allow eligible Nigerians who have not been able to register have the opportunity to do so.

Newsroom visited the INEC registration centre at Abekoko, Agege area of Lagos to feel the pulse of the people.

There was a mammoth crowd at the centre, but not many officials to attend to them. Some people told us they have been parading the centre for weeks and some, days, without success.

Many of the people who spoke with our correspondent have already registered, but were having problems collecting their voter cards. Some said they only needed the card for other official purposes, and not necessarily to exercise their civic rights in the forthcoming 2019 elections.

There are concerns that many Nigerians willing to participate in the 2019 election, will not be able to do so as the registration exercise came to an end today.
