Procedure to obtain a drivers’ license in Nigeria
Step 1:
Applicant must obtain a learners’ permit from BIR/MLA/MVAA
Step 2:
Applicant chooses driving school from list of certified schools online www.frsc.dssp.com
Step 3:
Driving school trains applicant for 26 sessions(1 hour per day per session) and issues certificates thereto
Step 4:
Applicant uses the certificate number to call up applicants record (Name, DOB,) on prepopulate form ML18N form (www.Nigerian drivers license. Org)
Step 5:
Applicant proceeds to the VIO for driving test, if successful, applicant is issued drivers test certificate. Unsuccessful applicants shall apply for another test
Step 6:
Applicant proceed to make payments of prescribed fee of N6,350 in the case of a drivers’ license with 3 years validity or N10,450 for drivers license with 5 years validity period at designated banks (FCMB, FBN, Access, UBA, Union, Skye bank using payarena (E-payment platform/Netpost)
Step 7
Applicant proceeds to BIR/MLA/MVAA
Step 8
Applicant proceed to FRSC drivers license centre for biometric enrollment (physical capture)
Step 9:
FRSC drivers license centre processes and issues a temporary drivers license with 60 days validity period to the applicant on the spot after which an SMS will be sent to your mobile phone for the pickup of the original drivers license.
