Pregnant girl, 17, gulps poison over parents’ rejection in Rivers
A teenage girl simply identified as Abibeto, has reportedly taken her life by gulping poisonous insecticide.
The 17-year-old girl who was a secondary school student, died at Awalama Community in Obio-Akpor local government area of Port Harcourt.
Abibeto was said to be unhappy after her parents told her to leave the house as a result of her pregnancy.
Reports say she was seen crying and asking for insecticide from traders at a spot in the neighbourhood shortly before her death.
Abibeto, unable to get her desired poisonous insecticides, reportedly got rat poison from a neighbour. She pretended that she was going to use it to kill rats but drank it.
Her lifeless body was discovered in the neighbourhood on Friday morning.
