Policemen takeover NHIS headquarters in Abuja, stop planned protest by workers

Following a planned protest by workers of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, at least, 50 policemen have been deployed to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

A source disclosed that “workers have been told since Friday not to enter their offices in preparation for a protest this morning”.

Another said, “Oga (NHIS boss) has brought in police this morning because he heard of our planned protest”.

It was gathered that some persons believed to be in support of the recently reinstated Executive Secretary of the NHIS boss,  Prof. Usman Yusuf, are expected to hold a solidarity rally at the agency.

Yusuf, who is accused of perpetrating fraud to the tune of N919m, was controversially reinstated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
