Police rescue 13 children, 15 others chained in Lagos building

Seven girls and six children have been freed from captivity by men of the Lagos State Police Command.

The policemen, acting on a tip-off, swooped on a house at Oke-Ira in Ojodu where the found the children chained and locked up.

15 adults were also found in the building.

 

“The suspect claims to be a spiritualist and a prophet. He said his work is to pray for sick people to get well,” an unidentified police source is quoted to have said.

“He said the victims were sick and he had been praying for their healing. The suspect has some magical inscriptions on the wall of his house.

“The victims comprised six adult males, nine adult females, seven female children, and six male children,” the source added.

Lagos police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus confirmed the rescue took place on Friday.

Badmus added that the one Emmanuel Adeyemi, allegedly responsible for the crime, had been arrested.

“A total of 28 persons were rescued from the suspect’s apartment,” she said.

“The man has been arrested and is undergoing interrogation. The command will get to the root of the matter.

“The police are also investigating to find out whether the victims are mentally sick or not,” she added.
