A police officer seen in a viral video involving Wahab and Raheem Okoya, sons of billionaire businessman Chief Razaq Okoya, has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force for misconduct related to naira abuse.

The incident, which sparked public outrage, was confirmed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who took to his official X account on Friday to address the situation. Adejobi condemned the officer’s behavior, calling it unethical and completely contrary to the values upheld by the police force.

“The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of Lagos businessman Chief Okoya, where they were seen abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action,” Adejobi wrote.

He emphasized that such actions would not be tolerated and that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

The controversial video, which surfaced last week, shows the Okoya brothers—dressed in traditional white agbada outfits—flashing stacks of freshly minted N1000 notes to promote Raheem Okoya’s new song, “Credit Alert.” As the video progressed, it also showed the mobile police officer holding bundles of cash while the Okoya sons danced and tossed the notes into the air.

“The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical,” Adejobi added. “We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police.”

The Nigeria Police Force has assured the public that further disciplinary measures will follow as the investigation continues.
