Police nab woman accused of stealing 5-day-old twin baby in Anambra
A 35-year old woman has been arrested by Police operatives from the Central Police Station in Nnewi for stealing a five-day-old twin baby in Anambra state.
The suspect is reported to have sneaked into the maternity section of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi and made away with the baby before anyone could notice.
The incident occurred while the mother of the child went outside to wash some clothes, unaware of what was going on.
While addressing the issue, the spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed said that the suspect was arrested in the evening of Wednesday after nurses at the gate of the hospital raised an alarm as they saw the woman acting suspiciously.
The woman whose baby was stolen, Mrs Happiness Mmadu was relieved when the baby was recovered in good condition.
Mohammed said that the matter is still under investigation and assured that the suspect will be charged to court once the process is complete.
