Police Inspector arrested for extorting an innocent man of N400,000
A police inspector named Tom Edet has been arrested at the Ihiagwa Police Division in Nekede, Imo State after he was implicated in a case of alleged extortion.
The suspect was reportedly extorting an undercover official of Behind Bars Initiative of N120,000, who tried to secure the release of a young man in their custody.
It was reported that the police inspector and his colleagues, had arrested the young man who was travelling from Delta to Imo state and refused to release him for days because he refused to pay a bribe of N400, 000.
His family members reportedly contacted Behind the Bars Initiative and the IGP XSquad was also notified. The officers were then said to be baited with marked N120,000 in cash.
The erring cop was subsequently nabbed while his colleagues and accomplices named as Bassey and Charity, are currently on the run.
