Youth “Corpers” in Zamfara, on Thursday, staged a protest against the police in Kaura Namoda town of the state for detaining one of their members.
The corps member, identified as Michael, had reportedly been arrested by the police on the orders of a “rich man”. The corper was said to have punished the man’s ward.
Michael, who serves at Nasara Standard Academy in Kauwas, Zamfara, had reportedly ordered the unnamed student to go on his knees as punishment.
He was subsequently picked up, brutalised and manhandled by the police on the angry man’s orders.
The protesting corpers alleged that the policemen punched Michael.
