Passenger Plane Heading to Russia Crashes in Kazakhstan with 67 Onboard
A passenger plane en route to Russia has crashed in Kazakhstan with 62 passengers on board, local authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
The Embraer 190 aircraft, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, was flying from the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, to Grozny in Russia when it went down near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. The transport ministry reported that the flight had five crew members, bringing the total number of individuals onboard to 67.
Preliminary reports from Kazakhstan’s emergency ministry indicate there are 25 survivors, including 22 people who have been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not disclosed the condition of the injured survivors.

The aircraft, flight J2-8243, was reportedly diverted from its original route due to heavy fog in the area. Local authorities said the plane caught fire upon impact, but emergency responders quickly extinguished the flames.
The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and investigations are underway to uncover what led to the tragedy.
