There was wild jubilation after the result of the CAF presidential election was announced in Addis Ababa on Thursday.
Longtime president, Issa Hayatou was voted out in the poll.
Well-wishers gathered around the newly-elected president Ahmed Ahmed and lifted him high up in the plenary hall.
Ahmed’s victory signals the end of Hayatou’s 29-year stranglehold on the position.
