Senator Ali Wakili has been buried in Abuja hours after his sudden death was announced.
Wakili died as a result of suspected heart attack after he slumped at his Abuja residence early Saturday morning.
He was said to be preparing to leave for a wedding in Yola when he suddenly slumped and was pronounced dead on the spot. He was 58.
The late senator was buried at Gudu District Cemetery in Abuja around 2p.m. after Islamic rites were performed on his remains at the National Mosque.
He is survived by two wives and children.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and Senate President Bukola Saraki who paid a condolence visit to the family, were also present at the burial.
Dogara described Wakili’s death as “a personal loss”.
He said: “We in Bauchi State and in particular, Bauchi South Senatorial District, have lost a worthy ambassador and a distinguished gentleman, but we’ll take solace in the fact that his humanitarian services and other accomplishments will continue to be a source of inspiration to us all.”
