Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi reportedly suspended over allegations of sexual misconduct

Paystack has suspended its co-founder and chief technology officer, Ezra Olubi, following allegations of workplace-related sexual misconduct that surfaced online on November 12.

According to a report by TechCabal, the Nigerian fintech company has initiated a formal investigation after old tweets allegedly posted by Olubi went viral on social media. His X (formerly Twitter) account has since been deleted.

The resurfaced tweets, which date from 2009 to 2013 before Paystack was founded contain sexually explicit jokes about colleagues, inappropriate comments made during meetings, and remarks referencing minors, bestiality, and sexualised anime characters. One tweet also included a comment about wanting to photograph a coworker’s thighs.

“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company said in a statement to TechCabal.

“We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation. Out of respect for the individuals involved and to protect the integrity of the process, we will not be commenting further until the investigation is complete.”
