#OsunDecides2018: INEC declares Osun election inconclusive, to announce date for re-run
September 23, 2018
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Osun State Governorship election inconclusive.
The decision comes after it was declared that only 353 votes separated PDP’s Senator Ademola Adeleke and APC’s Gboyega Oyetola in Saturday’s poll. A total of 3,498 cancelled votes were recorded.
A re-run will now take place between both parties at a later date to be announced by INEC.
Reports say the commission was strongly considering Thursday, September 27, for the re-run.
INEC’s Returning Officer, Joseph Afuwape, said Sunday afternoon: “Unfortunately, as the Returning Officer, it is not possible to declare any party as the winner.”
