Osun Election: INEC bans photos, recordings in polling booths

INEC says no recordings of election proceedings inside polling booths will be allowed during next Saturday’s governorship poll in Osun State.

The electoral body’s chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said on Monday that voters will have to leave their mobile devices behind as they go into the polling booths.

Voters will not be able to take pictures or recordings of who they have cast their votes for.

He said the measure was necessary to ensure the prevention of buying and selling of votes.

The restriction, according to Yakubu, would be limited to inside the polling booths where voters would have been given ballot papers to cast their votes.

Mobile devices, he said, are only allowed at the polling units.
